Turning Economic Challenges into Action
The Latino Working Class Project (LWCP) is a groundbreaking nonpartisan initiative dedicated to researching and providing data for leaders hoping to address the economic realities of California’s Latino community. Through comprehensive annual polling, in-depth research papers on key economic issues, an aggressive media and education program, and statewide community forums, LWCP will translate the cost-of-living concerns of this essential workforce into actionable, data-driven insights for policymakers, business leaders, and advocates.
Led by Mike Madrid, the Latino Working Class Project is a 501(c)3 project that will fill a critical need to connect the opinions of Latino residents with policy outcomes, while acting as a catalyst to bring together local Latino voices with policymakers on key economic issues.
Mr. Madrid is a nationally recognized political consultant with an expertise on Latino voting trends and voter behavior. Madrid has been a pioneer in Latino communications and outreach strategies in state, local, and national political campaigns. As a consultant for 30 years, Madrid has been one of the few consultants in the country who has been able to transcend party lines and has worked for major campaigns on both sides of the aisle.
THE WHY
A mandate for change.
California’s evolving demographics aren’t just a statistic—they’re a mandate for change. As the Latino workforce grows in size, influence, and complexity, traditional one-size-fits-all approach to economic policy fall short. The LWCP will meet this shift with dynamic tools: real-time and objective polling to track changing priorities, issue-specific research, and community forums to ground every insight in lived experience. These aren’t static reports—they’re strategic nonpartisan instruments designed to inform policy and educate leaders on the state’s most essential workforce.

Unlike 10 years ago, today’s challenges—post-pandemic recovery, housing scarcity, labor shifts, and inflation—require fast, reliable nonpartisan insights. LWCP will generate that data, bridge the information gap, and provide data for policymakers.
We Are At A Demographic Tipping Point
Latinos are no longer just a growing population—they are the dominant working-age demographic in California. Their economic and community influence is rising, but existing research and policy frameworks have failed to evolve with them.

California is facing a cost-of-living crisis, an affordability gap, and a deepening disconnect between policy and the lived experiences of working families. Latino workers are at the center of this storm bearing the brunt of economic pressures while being left out of the solution.
THE HOW

The LWCP takes a data-centered approach to providing nonpartisan, educational research to translate the day-to-day opportunities and challenges of the Latino community. More than just a point-in-time assessment of this community, the LWCP will build longitudinal data sets to track in real-time the effects of policy and economic changes on an essential and vibrant part of our community and economy.
